RESUMO
Esta nota apresenta alguns resultados positivos obtidos nos últimos oito anos no litoral do Nordeste do Brasil, onde foram construídos quatro dissipadores de energia Bagwall para controle da erosão costeira, em condições geológicas, geográficas, morfológicas e hidrodinâmicas completamente distintas. O resultado final, após a implantação destas obras, foi a contenção do avanço do mar e a recuperação da praia no local da intervenção.

ABSTRACT
The coastal environment is a nonlinear dynamic system, where the implications of its members individually are random and unpredictable. This system evolves over time and space, with an unbalanced and aperiodic behavior, where its future state is extremely dependent on its current state, and can be changed radically from changes in the present.
The climatic changes that are underway demand a greater awareness and concern regarding the intensification of erosion and inundation, increasing demand for coastal defense works, and the need to seek greater efficiency in their actions to find solutions that bring benefits environmental control of coastal erosion in urban areas.
This note presents some positive results obtained in the last eight years on the Northeast coast of Brazil, where four Bagwall energy dissipators have been built for controlling coastal erosion in four beaches under geological, geographical, morphological and hydrodynamic different conditions. Since the deployment of these works the advancement of the erosion has been controlled and beaches have been in restoration.
