Resumo:
Water utilities are facing a changing world and have to adapt themselves to new conditions. Today, water supply is not sufficient in the world: a third of the population has to acess to safe water. The growth of the population, urbanisation and industrialisation will also increase the demand for water. Water must to be considered as an economic good and has to be paid by all its users. Water utilities need to improve their perfomance in the areas of public relations, maintenence, training and costumer services. Some utilities have obtained certification according to ISO standarts. The aim of IWSA is to promote international freedom in the exchange of technical, scientific and managerial experience and expertise in order to assist water utilities in attaining these goals.
